About Us

As it often happens it started with an off-hand comment.  “Wouldn’t it be nice to have a place where quilters could stay overnight and take classes from local and national teachers.”  From that seemingly innocent comment the idea continued to percolate over time, never going away but never really amounting to anything.  We happened to have an opportunity to see a post and beam barn offered by Sand Creek Post and Beam and more thought was put to the idea.  After 2007 Fall International Quilt Market in Houston we took some time and drove to San Antonio to see a finished product.  We were hooked!  Upon our return we located a 5 acre piece of ground in the country outside of Gretna and made plans to build.  Over a two year period, it has come together and we are very pleased with the outcome.

Minglewood Lodge is available for daytime rental, but will also sleep 11 for those who want to rent it for overnight.  It is ADA accessible and has a full kitchen with all the amenities.

It’s been an interesting journey now that it’s done we hope you have a reason to come and enjoy.
